In order to increase the life coping skills and employment worthiness of the student the college conducts a number of skill oriented courses, they are done outside the class schedule. The staff for these courses is drawn both from our own college and from outside some of the courses are partially funded by UGC others are subsidized by the management to enable even the poorer students to profit by them. There is an institute of carrier education and job placement in the college by name vazhikatti this institute runs the skill oriented courses in collaboration with all the departments.
Guezou Computer Academy offers Certificate Courses beyond the Curriculum for the students of various departments of the College. These courses are the immediate needs for the students for special purposes. To mention a few courses offered by the Guezou Computer Academy are MS-Office, Visual Basic, Oracle, Web Designing, PC Hardware and Trouble Shooting, Network Administration, Tally, Computer Literacy, Internet Training, etc.,
The Virtual (Online)Course for Teachers of Higher Education(VCT)
The Virtual Course for Teachers (VCT) on Cooperative Learning and Educational Technology in Salesian Higher Education Institutions is offered as a certificate course in distance learning modality (online), for teachers from all fields. This course is a product of UNIVERSUS, the Distant Education Unit of Salesian Institutes of Higher Education in the world.
This course is being jointly conducted by Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur and Bosco Institute of Information Technology (BIIT), BICS InfoTech, Yelagiri Hills. The convocation ceremony was successfully conducted on 19th August, 2010. Rev.Fr.Stanislaus Swamikannu, the then Provincial of Chennai Salesian Province distributed the Certificates to the First batch of 14 Professors who completed the course successfully from four institutions. There were three Tutors Rev. Dr.c. Antony Raj sdb, Rev. Fr. Thaddeus sdb and Dr. S. Paul Raj tutoring the participants online.
The Second batch Program was started on 6th of October with 19 professors from 3 Institutions. There are 7 Professors from Don Bosco College,Dharmapuri 10 from Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur and 2 from SIGA, Chennai. The highlight of the program is, the Director of VCT and the Principal, Rev. Dr. Maria Susai sdb, himself is undergoing the Course. Dr. S. Paul Raj of Social Work Dept, Sacred Heart College coordinates the Course. There are three tutors : Rev. Dr.C. Antony Raj, sdb, Dr. S.Paul Raj, and Prof. L.Ravi.
At present, the course participants are at the final stage (Unit V). In a months time they have to submit their final project work and present it in a common viva voce.
The Institutions willing to send their teacher candidates for the course (III Batch) may contact either the Director or the Coordinator.
The College organizes coaching classes for Civil Services through the Placement Cell. Eligible P.G. students along with M.Phil students and junior faculty attend the NET/SLET coaching. All these courses are funded by UGC. The College has initiated coaching classes for Civil Services through the Placement Cell during the Academic year 2011 - 2012. (Includes students from nearby Colleges)
