A Two-Day International Web Conference on English Literature from India’s Frontier Nations: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka was organised by the PG & Research Department of English, Sacred Heart College on 11th and 12th May, 2022. The prime objective of this conference was to explore the writings in English of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Its aim was to understand and appreciate their culture, unique themes, commonalities, ethnicity and the status of English in the regional scenario of the frontier nations. During the inaugural session Rev. Dr. Maria Arokiaraj, Additional Principal and Head, PG & Research, Dept. of English elaborated the dynamics of the program. Rev. Dr. John Alexander, Rector and Secretary felicitated the gathering.

The various sessions include: Prof. Shishir Kumar Bhusal, St. Xavier’s College, Kathmandu, Nepal delivered his talk entitled “Mapping of Nepali Literature in English, Prof. Muhammad Azam, IMSB, Islamabad, Pakistan elucidated his talk on “The Trends and Traditions in Pakistani literature in English, Prof. Dr. Aamir Aziz, University of Panjab, Pakistan focused on the “Pakistani Literature in English: A Perspective”, Prof. Arjuna Parakrama, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and Dr. Sashikala Assella, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, highlighted the nuances of Sri Lankan Literature in English, Prof. Dr. M. Maniruzzaman, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh on “Bangladeshi English Literature: Emergence, Evolution and Expansion” and Prof. Dr. Md. Momin Uddin, Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh on “Bangladeshi Writings in English: It's Origin, Challenges and Journey Onwards. During the valedictory ceremony, Prof. N. Arul Doss, Head, Department of English (Shift I) delivered the valedictory address. About 795 participants from India, USA, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia attended the Web Conference.
