One day faculty development program on the topic “Pedagogy of Value Education, Human Rights & Life Skills, was organized in the department of Life Education, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur. Dr. John Britto SDB, (Director of Kalvisolai, Salesian Province of Chennai), Dr. Angelo Joseph SDB (Sacred Heart Institute of Management) and Mrs. A. Josphine Sahaya Mala (VP, SHC Shift - II) were resource persons of the event. 

All together there were 31 participants from various Colleges (Don Bosco College Yelagiri Hills, Don Bosco College Dharmapuri, Loyola College Vetavalam, Unique College of Arts and Science Krishnagiri and Auxilium College Vellore) took part in the program. God’s blessings invoked through a hymn by the choir. Fr. Angelo Joseph welcomed the gathering. Dr. John Alexander SDB, Rector, Secretory & HoD and Dr. Maria Antonyraj, Principal of Sacred Heart College were present for the program.

The resource person Dr. John Britto SDB, shared his thoughts with participants on the topic: Values Education, the Who, What and How of it? In his presentation he spoke about young people as target people for the Educators who are the actual facilitators. He mentioned that identity, belongingness and finding meaning in life as challenges of young people. In order to face these challenges, we need to facilitate them with values. Imparting values will be done through “carrying, connection, critical thinking, collaboration and conviction”.

            Five participants presented their model lessons on the following topics:

1. Self-Analysis, 2. How to become an effective Leader, 3. Career Planning and Job-Hunting Skills, 4. Interview and Resume Preparation, 5. Effective Time Management

Resource persons and other participants gave their constructive and critical assessment for all the presenters. Dr. Angelo Joseph, enlightened the gathering with principles of class room management. At the end of the program participation certificates were distributed to all the participants. Refreshment and Lunch were provided during the program.
