Event Details

Department of Chemistry, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), in association with Rural Society for Advancement of Chemistry (RUSAC) has organized a “One Day Programme CHEMFEST” on 25.02.2020. This programme was organized for motivating and enhancing the student’s knowledge in the Chemistry subject. Dr. Prabhu and Dr. Poornandhan (President of RUSAC) were invited as the resource persons. The programme was well attended by 650 students from both the host institution as well as from the neighbouring Colleges in and around Tirupattur and Vellore regions

The inaugural function was presided over by Rev. Dr. C. Antonyraj, SDB, the Rector and Secretary of the College who appealed to the audience about taking their subject knowledge for the upliftment of rural community. Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj the Principal of Sacred Heart College spoke on the importance of establishing RUSAC and programs organized by this association. Rev. Dr. K. A. Praveen Peter, the Vice Principal (Shift-I) and the Controller of Examinations encouraged and motivated the students to participate in the programme and express their talents on the stage. The president of the RUSAC, Dr. Poornandhan addressed the gathering and explained about the importance of RUSAC. Dr. C. Jayakumar, Assistant Professor introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Prabhu Asst. Professor in Physical Chemistry, University of Madras, Chennai. Vote of thanks for the inaugural function was given by Dr. R. Jude Vimal Michael, Assistant Professor in Chemistry.  

Dr. Prabhu delivered a talk on Nanoparticles.  Then, many CHEM events like CHEM CONNECTIONS, PAPER PRESENTATION, QUIZ, ODD OUT, GUESS ME were conducted by faculty members and students from different colleges enthusiastically participated in all the events.

Finally, the valedictory function was presided over by Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arokiaraj, the Additional Principal. He motivated the students by sharing some important facts about famous personalities.  Dr. V. Collins Arun Prakash, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with College Anthem.
