               Research being the impetus of higher education, Sacred Heart College is continuing to strengthen it's research cell and has been extending it vigorously across all departments. To mark this glorious achievement of dedicated research from staff and students, a maiden effort was made last year on 15/12/2018 to honour and show case the research carried out by the college.

              As a sequel to it, this year the Sacred Heart`s Research Day was celebrated on 13/12/2019 in the Kamarajar Arangam at 2.45 p. m. The Chief Guest for this memorable moment was, the most esteemed Prof. Dr. P. Kolandaivel,  the Vice Chancellor of Periyar University, Salem.  All the staff, PG and UG students participated in this celebration.Rev. Dr. C. Antonyraj, the Rector, introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering.  Rev. Dr. D. Maria Arokiaraj, the Additional Principal, Shift-II presented the research credentials of the college.

              Rev. Dr.  D.  Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, declared the results of the departments that have excelled in research. Dr. M. Jose, the Dean of Research, released the online journals of various departments. It was followed by the presentation of the research activities of all the departments. Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand, Vice Principal, (Admin) Shift-II introduced and launched the online portal for the Young Innovator Award to be hosted by Sacred Heart College on 28th February 2020. Prizes were given to the staff and students from arts and science departments for publishing papers in Scopus and UGC CARE. The best department for research was awarded to both arts and science departments. The best research award for faculty of arts was given to Dr. K. Parthibaraja, Department of Tamil. The best research award for faculty of science was given to Dr. G. Britto Antony Xavier, Department of Mathematics. The best research award to scholars were given to Mr. M. Megananthan, Rev. Fr. Sajan M. George and Mr. A. Sivakumar. The best Department of research for arts was awarded to the Department of Tamil. The best Department of research for science was awarded to the Department of Mathematics.

          The Chief Guest in his address admired and appreciated the efforts of the management and the staff for their sincere efforts. He spoke on how research is performed and understood globally. Further, he said that, success doesn’t depend on where one comes from, it depends on the inner urge to achieve.

           Mr. D. Henston, Assistant Professor, Department of English, inspired the audience with his team singing the youth song. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Clayton Michael Fonceca, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work. He thanked the administration, the staff and the students, for their excellent support towards the growth of the institution.
