Books on personality development, youth problems, leadership qualities, success stories, biographies of great men, general knowledge and tips for success in life are available at the centre.
The IGNOU centre is an extension study of our college functioning under the able and dynamic leadership of Rev. Fr. P. M. Thomas.The centre has been chosen for the commonwealth programme and it is rooted under a spacious building with a library and a well-equipped computer lab. School children from the neighbouring villages are given a special training in computer skills. Fifteen programmes are offered and they include B.com., B.C.A., and M.C.A. The centre has added to is armoury in the recent past a mobile computer lab donated by the Rotary International to train rural students.
Sacred Heart College Alumni Association, which is attached to the worldwide organization of Don Bosco Past Pupils Federation, was started in the Year 1980. It is continuously supporting the development of the college and the student community.
Salesian Educational Empowerment of Rural Students(SEERS) benefits over 1500 children in 13 centres managed by 26 teachers, mostly the alumni. This drive towards total literacy of the neighbourhood has recieved a warm welcome from the parents and the villagers. Total literacy day, cultural competitions, savings scheme, Christmas celebrations organized by the students are some of the salient features of this reach-out program.
The SAGES Programmes have been focusing on the personality development and characer formation of our staff and students. Thr Retreat for staff and students, seminar on "Emotional Maturity for Staff" and Faculty development programmes for young members of staff are planned and executed by the SAGES. It serves as a counselling centre for both the staff and the students.
Undertook a minor project on the Good Governance of the Tirupattur Municipality – Report submitted to IIPA, New Delhi – Approved – 2002. Prelude Conference on Topic of current issues and results of the discussion are presented at the National Conference held at New Delhi every Year. Seminar on various current issues and the results are sent to the central office. Farm Management workshops held every year for the benefit of the students and farmers. Self – Help Groups formed in and around Tirupatur for weaker sections of the society.
In pursuit of relevant higher education Sacred Heart College started its first ever "Masters Degree Programme" in 1979. Thus, the department of Social Work offering MSW Degree has come to be the pearl set in gold of Sacred Heart College.
Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) is a NGO based at KANSAS City in USA. This agency reaches out to children and aging that are most vulnerable to life’s hardships, all over the world. Their Good Samaritan deeds, do not bind them on the lines of religion, languages, caste etc.
The self-help groups have learnt to stand on their own legs. The habit of saving, financial management and leadership skills acquired by these groups are a marvel. Economical use of water and other natural resources, rainwater harvesting, knowledge about the harmfulness of plastic and advantages of environmental protection and such like habits have borne fruits and will have a lasting impact on posterity.
DB Centre, directed by Fr. P. M. Thomas SDB, the former head of the department of English, is rendering an excellent service for the past 33 years, to numerous villages, less privileged rural youth and unaffordable children , through various developmental and re-habilitational and educational services, through the Literacy Club(Manitha Neya Maiyam), School Dropout Prevention Programme, ChildCare Programme and IGNOU (UG, PG, Certificate Courses and Diploma Courses).
The Students Centre was Centre was started for solving youth problems. It is mainly for counselling students for their personal problems,guiding them for career guidance, training programmes for personality development, sex education, skill development, animating them for development, etc.
