Event Details

OUTREACH Programme is a successful initiative of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous). It is being implemented under DEEDS (Department of Extension Education and Services). OUTREACH is organized to develop volunteerism among students and carry forward their innovative initiatives in the neighborhood. The II UG students are involved in OUTREACH activities in promoting their learnings to result in direct benefit to the common public. The orientation and planning for the year 2023-24 were conducted for three days and the planning was decided.

Day – I (Orientation Programme)

The orientation program for Shift I and Shift II was conducted in the Kamarajar Arangam on 10th July, 2023. The program for the Shift II students started at 10.30 am and concluded at 12.30 pm. Mr. Karthick, Outreach Coordinator (Shift II) welcomed the gathering. The inaugural address was given by Rev. Dr. D. Samson Shanmugam, SDB, Director, Department of Extension Education Services (DEEDS). The presidential address was given by Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, Rector and Secretary. The felicitation address was given by Rev. Dr. K. A. Maria Arokiaraj, Additional Principal (Shift II). Mr. Sebastian introduced the resource person. Dr. T. Selvam, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work addressed the gathering on the topic “Effective Way of Outreach Programme”. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Karthick, Outreach Coordinator (Shift II).

Mr. Augustine, Assistant Professor, Department of English introduced the resource person. Dr. T. Selvam, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work addressed the gathering on the topic “Effective Way of Outreach Programme”. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Sebastian Outreach Coordinator (Shift I).

Day – 2 (Planning Session)

The planning session for both shifts was conducted in Pope Francis Hall on 11.07.2023. All the department staff in charge and five students from each department participated in this planning session. The objective of the outreach program planning session was to develop a comprehensive plan for an outreach initiative that aims to engage and connect with the target audience.The outreach program planning session provided an opportunity for participants to collaborate, analyze the target audience, generate ideas, and develop a comprehensive plan of action. The session successfully resulted in a set of prioritized activities, detailed action plans, and identified resource requirements.

Day- 3 (PPT Presentation)

The department plan was submitted in the form of PPT to the coordinators. The PPT presentation for the outreach program was conducted at Pope Francis Hall for both Shift I and Shift II on 12.07.2023 with two representatives from each department presenting under the guidance of the staff in charge.The objective of the PPT presentation was to showcase the outreach program for both shifts, highlighting the key activities, goals, and outcomes.The presentation aimed to generate awareness, gain support, and gather feedback for the outreach initiative.The PPT presentation for the outreach program in front of the Director and Coordinatorsin Pope Francis Hall was successful in conveying the key aspects of the program. The presentation effectively highlighted the activities, goals, outcomes, and plans of the outreach initiative, generating awareness and receiving valuable feedback. The presentation served as a platform for engagement, collaboration, and support towards the organization's outreach efforts.

The three-day outreach program orientation and planning session proved to be highly effective in preparing the students for the upcoming program. During the first day, the orientation session successfully provided the students with a comprehensive understanding of the outreach program, its objectives, and the expected outcomes. This orientation helped to align the participants' expectations, clarify any doubts or concerns, and create a shared vision among the students. On the second day, the planning session was conducted, enabling the students to collaborate and develop a detailed plan for the outreach program. Finally, on the third day, the students finalized their planning and prepared a presentation in the form of a PowerPoint (PPT) to showcase their ideas, strategies, and proposed outcomes. This presentation not only allowed the students to demonstrate their understanding of the program but also provided an opportunity to receive feedback and suggestions from their peers and instructors. Overall, the three-day outreach program orientation and planning session provided a solid foundation for the students to execute the program successfully. It equipped them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to carry out their responsibilities effectively, ensuring a meaningful and impactful outreach program.
