Virtual Seminar On Eccentricities of Indian English

The Department of English had organized a Virtual Seminar on “Eccentricities of Indian English” on 04/10/2021, Monday through Google Meet. The program started at 10.30 a.m. The students from Department of English II UG, III UG, I PG and II years had participated. The programme started with a prayer song. Ms.Sanathi Barathi from I PG did the Master of Ceremony. Vincent Chengra from I PG delivered the welcome address. Maria Pricilla from II PG introduced the Chief Guest. Mr.Peter Conicious Prabhu, Assistant Professor of English gave the Dynamics of the Day. The session was headed over by the guest speaker Dr. R. Annie Karunya Bagyam. She introduced the genre Indian literature and its background. She further explained the accents and style of Indian writings. She conducted a game for the participants through Kahoot platform. The participants gained knowledge regarding loan words from Indian literature to English, common errors while speaking English, historical background of Indian literature and writings, famous writers and their contribution. At the end, Mr. Arulkumar from III UG delivered the vote of thanks.
