Rev. Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, 10th Successor of John Bosco, the Rector Major of the entire Salesian Congregation, made a historic visit to Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, on the 8th of September, 2019. It was a "once in a lifetime experience,” for most of the Salesians of the Chennai Province, staff and students community. There was intense excitement exuding from a good number of young Salesians, for this was the first time they had seen and personally encountered the Rector Major. The Rector Major was led in procession by the NCC cadets, to the Kamarajar Arangam of Sacred Heart College at 6.15 p.m., where he addressed all the Salesians, staff, students and the well-wishers of the college.

    A series of cultural programmes were performed by the various Salesian institutions of the Chennai Province, to welcome the Rector Major, exhibiting the exuberance of the Salesian community. Rev.Dr.C.Antonyraj, the Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College, officially welcomed and greeted The Rector Major on behalf of the entire community of Salesians, staff and students. Rev.Dr.D.Maria Antony Raj, the Principal, honoured Rector Major with a shawl, and Dr.S.R.Xavier Rajarathinam, the Vice Principal (Academics Shift-I), crowned the Rector Major.

    Later on, the Rector Major released, the ‘Sacred Heart Times' the college E-Newsletter, a spiritual book titled ‘Drinking Deep at the Divine Springs’ by Rev.Fr.Matthew and the Salesian Province of Bangalore proudly presented 'Mickey,' a feature film based on the life of Michael Magone, a past pupil of Don Bosco. Having produced the award-winning children's movie 'Johnny,' and it's sequel 'Bosco,' and a telefilm on the life of Laura Vicuna, 'Mickey' comes as the fourth project of the province. It is the Bicentenary gift from the province in collaboration with the Salesian Family of the province.
    The Celebrations ended with a Community Dinner offered to all the Salesians, Staff and students with The Rector Major.

     On 9th, September, 2019, the Rector Major inaugurated the new Don Bosco Indoor Stadium partially funded by the UGC at 7.30 a.m. Later, the Rector Major addressed all the students of the college in a specially organized gathering at 8.30 a.m. for Shift-I students and 1.30 p.m. for Shift-II students in the Kamarajar Arangam.
