The Electoral Literacy Committee of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur District, organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on 'Constitutional Values and Social Responsibility' in collaboration with the Social Dimension of Chennai Province and the Indian Institute of Public Administration on 13.02.2024 at Kamarajar Aarangam. The awareness programme was scheduled in three phases to accommodate more than 4500 students along with the teaching fraternity

In the first scheduled event, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, Secretary & Rector (Autonomous), Tirupattur, welcomed the gathering and briefed the entire student community about constitutional values. In the second scheduled event, Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj SDB, Principal of Sacred Heart College, welcomed the gathering and briefed both the entire student community and the teaching fraternity of Shift-I about constitutional values. Finally, in the third scheduled event, Rev. Dr. K.A. Maria Arockiaraj SDB, Additional Principal of Shift-II, welcomed the gathering and briefed both the entire student community and the teaching fraternity of Shift-II about constitutional values.

Rev. Dr. D. Maria Antony Raj SDB, Principal of the College, introduced the resource persons: Fr. John Christopher, Director of DBSARC, and animators - 1. Mr. Jeeva from Today-NEWS Channel, 2. Mr. Dinesh Prasad & Madan from Comrade Gangsta, Chennai. The animators sang three rap songs that highlighted the significance of 'Voting Rights and the Value of Citizenship' in the upcoming elections. Resource person Fr. John Christopher emphasized the importance of voting power and its rights through gender equality, fundamental rights, the significant roles of MPs and MLAs, and the social problems associated with different parties and religions.

The entire student community of SHC highly appreciated the awareness programme organized by SHC on 'Constitutional Values and Social Responsibility.' Rev. Fr. G. Theophil Anand, Vice-Principal (Admin S-I), Rev. Dr. D Shanmugam, Vice-Principal (Admin S-II), and faculty members were also present.
