| Established in 1968, the department boasts of experienced and qualified faculty and excellent laboratory facilities for UG and PG programmes. The department has been producing consistently good results over the years. |
| Having offered a Physics course at the ancillary level of the UG programme, in the earlier years, the Department of Physics became a full-fledged department in the year 1968, with the introduction of B.Sc. Physics. The course was redesigned under autonomy, when the entire college became autonomous in 1988. B.Sc. Physics (Evening college) was introduced in 1993 and conducted under the university pattern of the University of Madras. This course now comes under the Thiruvalluvar University. M.Sc. Course in Physics was introduced in the year 2001, also under the university pattern. The silver jubilee of the department was celebrated in a grand manner in 1994. |
