| One of the most important activities vital to the successful operation of the Salesian system of education as devised and founded by Don Bosco is games and sports. Children learn 'by play' and the adolescent 'need to play' as a necessary part of their growing up and as an outlet for energy and means of expression. Don Bosco considered games as a therapy and he started his work for the youth with weekend recreation centres. Following Don Bosco's example, the salesian educators play with the students and help the youth in all round formation. And hence, at Sacred Heart College, sports and physical development are integral part of the learning process. |
| For the past forty years, Sacred Heart College has been popularly known in the sports circles as "Volleyball College". Till a couple of years back, our college was the successive champion in the Betram Tournament and State level Dr.Santhanam Memorial Dawn to Dusk Tournament. Though we lost our berth in Volleyball temporarily, in 1991 the college regained its supremacy by winning the state level "Dawn to Dusk" Volleyball Tournament. The overall performance of the college in sports is admirable. |
