| The Department of Business Administration had its humble beginning in the academic year 2004. The ever increasing demand for the course has compelled the Management to opt for this course. |
| In the beginning of the course there was cloud of doubt if this course was under autonomous pattern or under university mode for both the students as well as for the management pattern or under university mode for both the students as well as for the management as our new fledgling Thiruvalluvar University was undecided about the issue. As the dilly dallying was going on, the management was firm in getting the course under autonomous mode. After much persuasion and discussion with the university authorities,finally they gave the assent to start the course under autonomous mode. |
| Mr. V. Rajendran, HOD of commerce looked after the newly born department ably assisted by Rev. Fr. Maria Antony Raj SDB., in the first year of existence. Mr. D.Vetrivelan was appointed as a faculty of the department, As he had no full word load, he was also teaching in the Department of Commerce(Self Financing Mode). |
| Admission to the course was encouraging as 50 students were admitted. Students not only from commerce stream but also from other disciplines were admitted to the course. As the demands of autonomous pattern is quite heavy, some average and below average students discontinued the course. |
| In the second year and in the third year, the course got filled up to its full capacity. the department is now headed by Rev. Fr. Maria antony Raj, SDB., and is ably assisted by three faculty members. The faculty from Commerce,Computer Science,Ecomomics,Maths,English and Tamil also render their service in the department. |
| The department has created a positive impression in the minds of students and other faculty above their quality in studies, extra curricular activities and above all in the sphere discipline and punctuality. |
